It's September 11. A day that has gone down in history as one of the most tragic days for New York City and even America. Many people have suffered thanks to the selfish acts of a few. But today, were not going to focus on the negative aspect of that event. Rather we're going to show you how fascinating New York city can be. It's not hard to find fascinating facts about New York city. Think about it. New York city currently houses 8.4 million people distributed over a land area of 305 square miles. That's insane! The city has five boroughs; Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Some even say that these boroughs have enough personality and attractions to be their own cities! And then there's New York's history, which is full of defining moments, some tragic like Sept...

This is not the fault of science - when we discover powerful truths about the universe it's up to us to decide how to use them because they can either be boons or banes to the world. There may be no better example of this than the work done by the Manhattan Project - the years long, multinational effort to develop an atomic bomb during World War II. On October 31, 2017, a man identified as Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov used a rented Home Depot pick-up truck to mow down and 8 people in Manhattan, New York. This was apparently an ISIS-inspired terrorist attack because the suspect shouted Allahu Akbar after getting out of his truck. The huge hall, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling in Beaux Arts style, has been the city’s central railway station for twelve lines since 1913. I'm just a puppet who can see the strings.” -Jon "Doctor Manhattan" Osterman There's been a disturbance in the DC multiverse as of late. Space and time itself seem to be in jeopardy through the actions of a mysterious meddler from beyond existence, and many fingers are pointing to the nigh-omnipotent Doctor Manhattan. The truth...? Yeah, that's proooobably right, but in his original story, the good doctor was just a simple matter manipulator among street heroes. The entity DC is dealing with seems to bend reality to...
Wall Street is a 0.7-mile-long (1.1 km) street running eight blocks, roughly northwest to southeast, from Broadway to South Street on the East River in the Financial District of lower Manhattan, New York City. Over time, the term has become a metonym for the financial markets of the United States as a whole, the American financial sector (even if financial firms are not physically located there), or signifying New York-based financial interests Read More: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wall_Street
Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 -- 18 April 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). The latter was pivotal in establishing quantum theory. Near the beginning of his career, Einstein thought t...

Jill Lepore, prize-winning historian, reads from her book New York Burning: Liberty, Slavery and Conspiracy in Eighteenth Century Manhattan (2005), an early history of "a city that slavery built," and the story of a rarely recounted plot by Black slaves to burn colonial New York City to the ground in 1741. Lepore is also the author of The Name of War: King Philip's War and the Origins of American Identity (1999), an account of a bloody and little-studied war that erupted in 1675 between the Wampanoag Indians and the English colonial settlers of what is now Massachusetts. The Name of War received the Bancroft Prize.

Fake Facts. All knowing proclamations on social media. Are we at a point in history where expertise is meaningless? Prompted by this very concern, Tom Nichols wrote The Death of Expertise. Nichols says people are now exposed to more information than ever before. He says that these societal gains, however, have also helped fuel a surge in narcissistic and misguided intellectual egalitarianism that has crippled informed debates on any number of issues. Today, everyone knows everyt...

Throughout the first half of the 20th century, the city became a world center for industry, commerce, and communication. Interborough Rapid Transit (the first New York City Subway company) began operating in 1904. The area's demographics stabilized, labor unionization brought new protections and affluence to the working class, the city's government and infrastructure underwent a dramatic overhaul under Fiorello La Guardia, and his controversial parks commissioner, Robert Moses, ended the blight of many tenement areas, expanded new parks, remade streets, and restricted and reorganized zoning controls, especially in Lower Manhattan. In the 1950s, a few new buildings were constructed in lower Manhattan, including an 11-story building at 156 William Street in 1955. A 27-story office build...

One of my favourite things about NYC are the old historic bridges. I love how the city has made these bridges accessible to cyclists. In this video I give a tour of the 3 bridges which connect the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn across the East River. My starting point was New York City Hall, and I ended the video at Continental Army Plaza in Brooklyn. Biking the Hudson River Greenway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCAUo0ye2yM Tacoma Narrows Bridge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFzu6CNtqec I used my Contour Roam 2 camera to shoot the action footage and recorded the audio with my Panasonic voice recorder and earpiece microphone. New York City is a great bicycling city! I encourage you to explore the city on a bike if you ever visit. Please leave a comment and SUBSCRIBE. Thanks ...
The sockpuppet mainstream media are going out of their way to whitewash and sanitize the New York City terrorist experience yesterday. If you look at the events of Barcelona, London, Stockholm, Berlin and Nice there’s one thing that would jump from the pages of news accounts: None of these perpetrators were Swedes. None of them yelled “Jesus, Mary and Joseph!“ and none of them were radicalized members of the Knights of Columbus. For the love of God, Sparky, wake up and smell the bacon. The man who allegedly ran down cyclists and pedestrians along 17 Manhattan blocks pledged his allegiance to ISIS before his attack, it has emerged. Police sources say Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, 29, entered a bicycle path at Houston Street at 3.05pm and drove downtown, knocking down victims before smas...
